Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation
Physical Therapy services may include assessment of postural alignment, range of motion and strength, joint mobility testing, and movement analysis. Balance testing and a clinical neurological examination will be provided if appropriate. We are well versed in treating a wide variety of orthopedic injuries and conditions related to the neck, back, pelvis, shoulder, hip, knee, and feet with the purpose of relieving pain, restoring mobility and strength, improving balance, normalizing movement patterns, and maximizing function.
My goal with each and every client is for them to come out on the other side of the rehabilitation process physically and mentally better than before their injury. Better in terms of movement, body awareness, balance, strength, athleticism, and overall health. Often, during the course of rehabilitation, weak links in the brain and body are discovered which would have otherwise not been uncovered. These deficits may ultimately slow the recovery process and limit physical and often mental performance in life. Education is a big emphasis and clients leave with strategies and the confidence to enable them to care of themselves.
Deficits in the brain and nervous system are addressed with drills specific to each individual athlete. With brain concepts in mind, vision, vestibular (balance centers of the brain), and proprioception (body awareness) systems are trained and integrated with the intent of maximizing efficiency of movement, speed, strength, power, and stamina. Technique and skill training for the athlete’s sport are emphasized and video analysis utilized to allow for self evaluation and accelerated learning and progression.
